As of 9 May this year, up to 100 young Luxembourgers and New Zealanders will be able to benefit from the working holiday visa arrangement signed off between the two countries in Wellington, September last year.
The Work Holiday Programme allows fifty 18 to 30 year olds from each of the two signatory countries to stay for a period of one year in the other state.
The programme’s main purpose is to allow young adults to spend holidays in the partner country and discover another culture. Additionally, they may engage in paid employment or study. Nevertheless, he or she must have the financial resources to live in the host country.
During their stay, the participants in the programme are, within certain limits, free to travel within the other country under a multiple-entry working holiday visa.
Applicants from Luxembourg can apply for a visa through the website: www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/options/work/thinking-about-coming-to-new-zealand-to-work/working-holiday-visa
New Zealand candidates will send their files to the Belgian Consulate in Canberra, which will process them.
