Luxembourg, Paris want clear Brexit timetable

On Tuesday, Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel met with French President François Hollande to discuss the development of the EU, including the impending exit of Britain.

Over a talk on the sunny terrace of the Élysée Palace, the two leaders spoke on EU-related issues. The meeting comes just ahead of the EU summit scheduled to take place in Bratislava on September 16, when 27 EU member states will discuss the future of the EU without the UK.

It was agreed that only a clear timetable would enable the start of the Brexit negotiations.

Additionally, the EU should reposition itself based on a three-pronged approach:

More internal and external security through a better management of external borders and on the allocation of additional defence forces.
A reinforcement of the “Juncker Plan” to promote investment.
Support for young people by way of additional training and job opportunities.
