Directors of Luxembourg Credit Institutions Hold 2017 Forum
The banking committee of the Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs (ILA) launched its 5th annual 2-day forum for directors of Luxembourg credit institutions.
This year, independent and executive board members, and members of senior management and key function holders of Luxembourg credit institutions gathered to attend the bank governance centric workshops and discussions with a focus on the latest updates on regulatory and market practice.
Key points of focus were the latest CSSF and ECB positions, findings and expectations, the roles and responsibilities of bank boards and subsidiary issues for directors, remuneration committees and policies, IT risk and cybersecurity, and the banks’ liquidity strategy and risk appetite.
Guest speakers included among others, the directeur general of the Luxembourg financial regulator (CSSF), Claude Marx, the chair of the board of Banque Internationale à Luxembourg and previous Luxembourg finance minister Luc Frieden, the CEO of Banque Internationale à Luxembourg Hugues Delcourt, the head of Inspection Générale des Finances and chairman of BGL BNP Paribas Etienne Reuter, as well as representatives from the CSSF and the ECB and several members of the ILA banking committee.
Over 20 participants actively engaged in debating case studies and shared best practices around corporate governance of credit institutions. “One of the most interesting courses I attended, from a content point of view to the quality of the speakers” expressed one of the participants, “Great seminar, very good speakers and a good group of participants” mentioned another.
The Forum for Directors of Luxembourg Credit Institutions in Luxembourg is one of the key training sessions which ILA offers each year focussing exclusively on directors of credit institutions and it is unique to Luxembourg and accredited by the CSSF.
