After the heat of the past few days, in rolled the storms on Thursday night over Luxembourg and while some areas of the country were barely touched, in others the storms were severe especially in south and east.

Some streets within minutes, were under water and a section of the A4 motorway between “Collectrice du sud” and the Foetz exit was closed due to flooding. Since Friday morning however, the motorway is open again.

In Bascharage lightning struck several places leaving some residents without electricity for a short time.

Emergency services recorded that firefighters were called out about 150 times between 7pm and 11pm. Many call-outs were due to flooding, while others were related to fallen trees.
