7 Men Arrested as Luxembourg Police Smash Nigerian Drugs Gang

The Grand Ducal Police has reported that, following an operation spanning several months, its Criminal Investigation Department has smashed a Nigerian drugs ring operating out of France.

A total of seven men of Nigerian origin had regularly imported cocaine (understood to be several kilograms) into Luxembourg to supply Nigerian drug dealers operating in Luxembourg City and Esch-sur-Alzette.

In a joint action coordinated by the Drug Division of the Luxembourgish Criminal Police, involving Luxembourg and French special units, as well as the French criminal police from Metz, two Nigerian dealers were arrested in Luxembourg and five other members of the drug ring were arrested in Longwy, in France.

During the searches conducted in Luxembourg as well as in France, a total of around 1 kg of cocaine was recovered, plus accessories as well as circa €21,000 in cash.

The five persons arrested in France will soon be transferred to Luxembourg by means of European arrest warrants. The two persons arrested in Luxembourg have already been presented to the investigator and are currently in detention.
