ECB can’t reach the inflation target, more pumping is on the way

Inflation in the euro area remained stable at minus 0.3 percent on an annual basis in October. This was reported by the European statistical office Eurostat on the basis of a definitive figure.

Economists had expected this since Eurostat came up with the same figure in the first estimate. In September, inflation in the euro area also reached minus 0.3 percent.

Economists from ING already noted at the end of last month that the inflation rates of the euro area give cause for concern. Inflation is well below the level that the European Central Bank (ECB) prefers.
