Luxembourg – the safest country all over the world for expats
It was only a short time ago that Luxembourg topped the list of ‘best healthcare in the world’ in a survey. Now the Grand Duchy has done it again in a separate report as the ‘safest country in the world for expats.’
The survey was carried out by InterNations, the world’s largest organisation and network of people who have left their country of origin to live and work abroad.
No less than 14,300 expats in 191 countries of 174 nationalities were asked a series of questions which scored 43 different aspects of their lives in their host countries on a scale of 1 to 7.
And in one of these aspects – “safety and security” – Luxembourg came out as number one ahead of such countries as Singapore, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada and Oman, that all made the top 11 countries.
The InterNations survey was published in The Independent and Business Insider UK articles stating that Luxembourg has “only around half a million people living there but its crime rate is one of the lowest in the world.”
However the survey did also take into account safety aspects such as social and financial security as well as crime rates and it is therefore likely that a combination of these facets put Luxembourg on top.
The full top 11 list of countries is as follows:
- 11 – Oman
- 10 – Taiwan
- 9 – Finland
- 8 – New Zealand
- 7 – Norway
- 6 – Switzerland
- 5 – Malta
- 4 – Canada
- 3 – Japan
- 2 – Singapore
- 1 – Luxembourg
