Angela Merkel to Undertake Official Visit to Luxembourg
On Thursday 12 January 2017, the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, will undertake an official visit to Luxembourg.
Upon invitation by the Luxembourg Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, the chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, will be visiting the Grand Duchy next week.
The chancellor will be welcomed by Xavier Bettel with military honour at the Place Clairefontaine, before being received by their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess at the Grand Ducal Palace.
The German and Luxembourgish heads of state will have a meeting at the house where Robert Schuman was born in Luxembourg-Clausen. The discussions will essentially deal with bilateral relations and the big current issues in international and European politics.
Angela Merkel and Xavier Bettel will also discuss these issues at an official breakfast at MUDAM, at which the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mars Di Bartolomeo, will also be present along with other German and Luxembourgish political and economic figures.
