McDonald’s Corporation Wins Trademark Fight for Mac

McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) has won a legal battle regarding the name of several food products and beverages. Singapore firm Future Enterprises was looking to register “MACCOFFEE” as a trademark in the EU, but the Union’s Intellectual Property Office rejected this request.

The firm attempted to challenge the move, but a Luxembourg court shut Future Enterprises down. Meanwhile, McDonald’s won the right to use the prefixes “Mc” and “Mac” on 12 products.

The decision was backed by the General Court.

MCD stock is up 0.2% Tuesday.
