POST Luxembourg and ArcelorMittal Found Top Employers at Over 4K Each

A report published on Tuesday by STATEC has shown telecommunications provider and mail delivery service POST Luxembourg, steel and mining company ArcelorMittal, supermarket chain Cactus and railway company Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) emerge as the country’s main employers.

The list was compiled from a non-binding annual survey of companies and groups of companies located in Luxembourg an employing at least 90 people on 1 January 2016. It covered sectors from industry and construction to trade and most services activities.

The Post Group Luxembourg came out on top overall with 4,320 employees, followed by ArcelorMittal (4,180), the Cactus Group (4,060) and the CFL Group (4,040). All demonstrated significant staff growth between 2003 and 2016 apart from ArcelorMittal, which experienced a loss of 2,590 employees over the course of the last 13 years.

Broken down into sectors, the Landewyck Group tobacco good manufacturer was the top employer in the food, drinks and other product manufacturing sector with 700 employees. Textiles and industry saw rubber manufacturer Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations SA emerge as the most important employer of 3,290 people whilst Husky Injection Molding Systems SA were in first place for technical and electrical products with 980 members of staff.

Energy supplier Enovos was the top company in its category, whilst the 630 employees of the Félix Giorgetti Group saw it claim the top tier in construction.
