LuxairTours expand client base while yield falls
Despite facing a difficult year for tourism destinations abroad, LuxairTours increased its client base by 4%.
According to initial results made public by the travel agency on Friday, customer numbers were up while average yields fell.
The greatest losses were noted for package holidays to Turkey. LuxairTours reduced its normal service of seven weekly flights to two.
Demand for the Spanish coast was high over the summer, with 70% of customers opting for this destination.
Meanwhile, there was positive interest in Tunisia after last year’s mass shooting at a beach near a resort served by the agency. Two weekly flights have had on average 90% occupancy, LuxairTours said.
“We believe Tunisia will attract people back again in 2017,” said LuxairTours vice president Alberto Kunkel.
