Luxembourg’s Public Prosecutor has appealed against the outcome of the LuxLeaks trial that took place in the Grand Duchy earlier this year.

The development was revealed by journalist Edouard Perrin in a Tweet posted on Monday and later confirmed by his lawyer, Olivier Chappuis.

Perrin was acquitted of all charges after he made public tax rulings for major multinational companies disclosed by two whistleblowers: Antoine Deltour and Raphael Halet, in a 2012 report on French public television.

Deltour and Halet, who disclosed thousands of documents obtained while working for PricewaterhouseCoopers, were given 12 and nine-month suspended jail sentences, respectively, at the end of the trial in June.

Chappuis said that his client had nothing to add regarding the appeal. He expected the appeal hearing to take place at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017. Deltour’s lawyer, Philippe Penning, also confirmed the information.
