Fire breaks out at Cattenom nuclear power plant
Fire broke out in an administrative building located at the Cattenom nuclear power plant just over the Luxembourg border on Tuesday night, which was rapidly extinguished but a surveillance team remains on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at about 10pm in a temporary administrative portable-like building within the Cattenom power plant complex.
Firefighters quickly put out the blaze which, according to an official statement from the plant, did at no point put the safety of personnel in jeopardy or any surrounding structures or buildings.
The report went on to say that the building was located well away from the industrial part and the nuclear plant, but French, foreign public authorities, the Nuclear Safety Authority and the elected representatives were all rapidly informed of the fire.
