Those are the hot new restaurants lining up to open in Luxembourg this year
From new brands to those already well established in the country, the year 2022 promises numerous restaurant and snack bar openings in Luxembourg.
The catering industry has been hit hard by the covid-19 pandemic, but it is not throwing in the towel, despite the recent restrictions: 2022 promises to be a year full of new arrivals in Luxembourg. First of all, there is the long-awaited restaurant project at the top of the Royal-Hamilius complex. Called SixSeven, this eatery with a panoramic view of the city should open by the national day celebrations next June.
Another large-scale project is the space occupied until May 2020 by the C-Inn located at the Belle Étoile shopping centre in Bertrange. “We cannot yet reveal the name of the restaurant complex, but I can tell you that it will be made up of several ‘food corners’ including a Cocottes space, upmarket chip shop La Baraque, a Tempo restaurant, an Um Plateau cocktail bar and a Grand Café by Red Beef brasserie,” the centre’s communications manager, Céline Vannier, told Delano’s sister publication Paperjam. The opening is planned for the second half of the year.
Still on the subject of novelties, the long-awaited Flûte Alors will take up residence at the beginning of the year at 2 Grand-Rue in the capital. This champagne bar, jointly run by specialists Vinoteca and Craft et Compagnie, will also offer a number of delicacies, such as Kasnodar caviar.
Donuts in the city, Kirchberg full
On a less gourmet note, but still new, is the arrival of Royal Donuts, the German-based franchise with 230 outlets in Europe. It is due to open at 11 Rue Aldringen in the first half of the year, according to agent Inowai.
Also in the district, the Royal-Hamilius centre is continuing to blossom with the opening of the Atelier Steffen restaurant in January, as well as the arrival of a new restaurant chain in Luxembourg during the first half of the year.
The Kirchberg’s gourmet offer is set to expand next year, with the arrival of at least six brands, says Inowai. Kaempff-Kohler is expected to open its fourth outlet in the country in the first quarter. American chain Subway will bring its number of outlets in Luxembourg to nine.
From January onwards, new products are expected in the vicinity of the Kirchberg Shopping Center. Inside, O’Tacos is preparing to open its second outlet, after the one on Avenue de la Liberté. Just opposite and at the same time, in the Axento Kirchberg building, the Breton crêperie chain Matelots is expected to open a second outlet. Behind it, the Immobel K Point Kirchberg building is preparing to welcome Vietnamese restaurant Peppermint, already present in Bonnevoie.
Already announced is the move of Chalon de Thé cat café to its new location in the station district in the first quarter of 2022. In the upper town, Thai cuisine chain Pitaya should open its first Luxembourg restaurant in the spring.
Finally, other openings are being prepared behind the scenes. The agent JLL Luxembourg has announced the arrival of two new businesses: a casual dining establishment and a high-end confectionery store, according to Dimitri Collignon, head of retail Belux.
