A tragic accident occurred on Thursday, resulting in the death of a teenager when a father and son were taking a tour in an old military jeep when disaster struck.

The accident occurred near Heiderscheid when the driver of a jeep travelling on a forest road, lost control of the vehicle as it slipped on wet ground and slid down a slope.

The Jeep didn’t come to a halt until it hit a stream below The passenger, a 19-year-old man, died on the spot, while the father was seriously hurt but was still able to alert emergency services.

A major search for the vehicle began which was inaccessible by road and it was thanks to a helicopter search that the Jeep was located, before a rescue operation took place.
