Luxembourg’s unemployment rate rose in December

Luxembourg’s unemployment monthly rate has increased. In December, 18,185 people were looking for work, which was 1,413 more than in November.

However if we look at the year as a whole, the figure has actually decreased by 680 people, or 3.6%.

Luxembourg’s current unemployment rate stands at 6.3% which is 0.4 points below the December 2015 level.

This general decline in unemployment is a “solid trend” according to ADEM the country’s employment agency, as many disadvantaged groups have now found their place in the labour market.

Unemployment for those with health problems has also dropped by 7.4% over a period of one year.

For those over 50 those out of work fell by 2.1%, and those on long-term unemployment fell by 3.8%.
