As of July 31, the number of Luxembourg jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 16,634. This represents a decrease of 902 individuals, or 5.1 percent, year on year.
The unemployment rate was 6.4 percent , or 0.5 points below the July 2015 level.
The number of job seekers has declined since January 2015. At first the decline did not really help the most vulnerable unemployed, but that appears to be changing: the decline is now widespread and also benefits job seekers with health problems (-5.5 percent year on year), applicants over age 50 (-2.7 percent ) and those who have been registered for at least 12 months (-3.1 percent ).
In July 2016, 1,750 people registered with ADEM, representing a decrease of 185 people compared to July 2015. The number of recipients of full unemployment benefit amounts to 6,751, or 394 people less than July 31, 2015.
In late July 2016, 5,171 people were assigned to job schemes. This figure is down 6 percent compared to July 2015, when 5,502 people were assigned to an employment measure.
In July 2016, employers reported 2,507 vacancies to ADEM, 5 percent more than in July 2015.
