‘Words are not enough, the world needs concrete action’ says Bettel

Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel spoke at a plenary United Nations meeting in New York on Tuesday in relation the the ‘massive displacement’ of migrants.

In his speech he stated that “this global crisis calls for a global response and a shared responsibility worthy of the name solidarity.”

Bettel drew attention to Luxembourg’s efforts in this area pointing out that 1% of gross national income is invested in public development aid.

He then called for a political will to resolve and prevent conflicts in order to help stop massive exodus movements.

Bettel also chaired a panel entitled “Eliminating the root causes of mass movements of refugees.”
