HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke, Prince Guillaume, and Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, travelled on from Washington DC to New York on a mission to promote Luxembourg’s financial centre.
They had various meetings with high-level representatives of businesses within the financial sector. Most notably, they met with management of AIG insurance company to discuss their expansion plans in Luxembourg with regards to Brexit. They also visited New York Green Bank to discuss development opportunities of green finance on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as the New York office of Luxembourgish company, Talkwalker, specialising in marketing analysis.
Minister Gramegna presented the opening speech of a seminar organised by ALFI and the LPEA in collaboration with Luxembourg for Finance and the consulate general of Luxembourg, for New York professionals in the finance sector. Once again the issue of Brexit was addressed and the position of Luxembourg’s financial centre was discussed relative to the development of green finance and Fintech. The Minister also held meetings with start-ups in Fintech to define the role that Luxembourg could play as a hub to develop the European market.
