Luxembourg Prime Minister visits Singapore to strengthen bilateral relations

Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel went on a working visit to Singapore on Tuesday, November 15, in order to meet his counterpart Lee Hsien Loong in a bid to strengthen bilateral political and economic ties.

Bettel expressed his conviction that both countries have a lot in common, being small nations with big ambitions. He attributed particularly strong ties to commercial relations and financial services, but also to logistics, the ICT sector and research and development.

In view of the research and development ties, both Prime Ministers were present at the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Luxembourg National Research Fund and the National Research Foundation from Singapore.

The two organisations are supposed to intensify their collaboration in scientific research and implement joint research projects in materials science and finance technology.

The cooperation was sealed more specifically through a signed partnership between the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the Singapore Center for 3D Printing (SC3DP) of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
