The Institute for Global Finance Integrity (TIGFI) has announced the 55th Luxembourg Monthly Finance Lunch to take place on Thursday 5 October 2017 at the Cercle Munster, from 12:00.
At the upcoming Luxembourg Monthly Finance Lunch for September, Francis Carpenter, formerly Secretary General, European Investment Bank, and CEO, European Investment Fund, will speak on “How Luxembourgers brought the Jubilee Line to Canary Wharf”.
Francis Carpenter currently holds independent board positions with half a dozen AIFM and related entities, notably with NM Rothschild/Paris Orléans, BC Partners, and 17 Capital; all of these are Luxembourg-based, the most recently established being Brexi-related. Previously, Francis was a Board member and Chair of the Nomination & Remuneration committee of Braas-Monier, a group listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, until taken over in a contested bid earlier this year. He also sat on the Board and chaired the Remuneration Committee of IP Group, a London Stock Exchange listed company, for 6 years. He was Senior Advisor to Caisse des Dépots et Consignations International, Paris, leading to the launch of two infrastructure funds.
Francis is one of the original founders of 17 Capital LLP, London, which pioneered preference capital for PE funds, and now has some €2bn under management. Prior to that, Francis was for five years CEO of European Investment Fund, a leading high-tech and mid-cap fund of funds, after six years as Secretary General of the European Investment Bank, both Luxembourg based, and consistently AAA rated.
Francis was educated mainly at Oxford and Sciences Po, Paris.
The event will begin with drinks at 12:00, with Francis Carpenter speaking from 12:30.
